Rabbi Mendel and Chaya Mushka Axelrod

Rabbi Mendel and Chaya Mushka Axelrod are among the Chabad emissaries in Moldova, serving with great dedication to strengthen Jewish life throughout the country.

As part of their mission, they devote themselves to developing the Jewish community, strengthening Jewish identity, and providing spiritual and communal support to the Jews of Moldova and to visitors from abroad.

Rabbi Mendel Axelrod serves as the Chief Rabbi of Moldova and is active in many areas of spiritual leadership, religious services, education, kashrut, and the development of community institutions. He serves as a central address for the Jewish community and for visitors seeking guidance, assistance, and connection with Jewish life in Moldova.

Alongside him is Chaya Mushka Axelrod, a full partner in the communal mission. She is active in the fields of education, family life, and community development, organizing programs and events for women and children, and assisting many women in matters of family purity. In addition, she is responsible for the women’s mikvah, “Mikvah Liel,” and works with dedication to provide the women of the community with a dignified, welcoming, and pleasant place.

Together, they work to strengthen Chabad institutions in Moldova, expand Jewish activity throughout the country, and care for the spiritual and material needs of the local Jewish community.

Rabbi Mendel and Chaya Mushka Axelrod continue their Chabad mission in Moldova with devotion and contribute greatly to the growth and flourishing of Jewish life in the country.
